Chinese manufacturer Geely has announced that its new electric Farizon SV panel van will go on sale in the UK in the new year.

Designed for the European market, the new van will be sold by distributor Jameel Motors in the UK, and the range will include two different powertrain options at launch. The range will start with the lead-in 67kWh version, followed by a more powerful 83kWh variant. A range-topping 106kWh battery is planned for an arrival sometime after launch.

On top of the battery options – with Geely aiming for a range of 250 miles on a single charge – the van line-up will include small (five metres long and two metres high), medium (5.5 metres long and 2.2 metres tall) and large (six metres long and 2.5 metres tall) body sizes, with all variants being two metres wide.

While pricing is yet to be confirmed, the van is expected to challenge for sales at the budget end of the market, with expected pricing of £30,000 or lower.

Unlike the current crop of electric vans on sale in the UK right now, the SV – which stands for ‘Supervan’ – will feature dual-redundancy drive-by-wire for braking and steering, so that if one connection fails, a back-up will be ready to take over.

That sums up what we know about the new Farizon SV so far. More details including UK pricing and trim specifications, will be announced in the coming weeks.
