Following recent changes to double-cab tax regulations, Isuzu has launched a new variant of its top-spec D-Max V-Cross pick-up, specifically aimed at retaining its LCV tax status.

Designed for SMEs, farmers, tradespeople, and construction professionals, this new model offers the comfort and specification of the top-spec V-Cross combined with full LCV taxation compliance.

Essentially, Isuzu takes the regular V-Cross Double Cab and has it professionally converted into a two-seater model to meet the new tax regulations. The rear passenger space is permanently adapted into a secure load zone, ensuring the vehicle cannot be returned to a passenger configuration.

Leaning into its role, Isuzu has also equipped the V-Cross Commercial with a relevant work-ready specification as standard. This includes a lightweight commercial canopy, tow bar with towing electrics, load bed liner, rear passenger door window tints, and protective driver and passenger seat covers.

To distinguish it from non-LCV versions, the new model also carries distinctive “Commercial” badging.

Mechanically, the V-Cross Commercial retains the same package as the rest of the D-Max range, with a one-tonne payload, 3.5-tonne towing capacity and four-wheel drive. It also comes with Rough Terrain Mode and a rear differential lock for improved performance in more demanding off-road environments.

On more conventional roads, a kerb weight of about two tonnes means that the V-Cross Commercial qualifies for passenger car speed limits on dual carriageways and motorways.

VAT is reclaimable for VAT-registered businesses making fully taxable supplies, while road tax is kept at a fixed rate of £345. It also continues to qualify for Plant and Machinery Allowance under Capital Allowances, retaining 100% writing down status.

For company drivers, the model keeps its flat-rate £4,020 Benefit in Kind for the 2025/26 tax year. These benefits are particularly significant for SMEs and self-employed professionals looking to reduce the potential costs introduced under the new April 2025 legislation changes affecting double and extended cab pick-ups.

Inside, the V-Cross Commercial carries the same niceties found in the Double Cab version. There’s leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, a wireless nine-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a new seven-inch screen in the driver’s display area. USB-C ports and an upgraded accident-avoidant suite, including adaptive cruise control and traffic jam assist, are also included.

All Isuzu D-Max models come with a five-year/125,000-mile warranty, plus five years of UK and European roadside assistance.

Managing director at Isuzu UK, Alan Able, said: “The New Isuzu D-Max V-Cross Commercial is the perfect solution for SMEs, trades, farmers and construction professionals who need a tax-efficient pick-up that works as hard as they do.

The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross Commercial is priced at £41,995 excluding VAT and is available to order now with automatic transmission. Customer deliveries will begin in November 2025.
