Vauxhall and Renault have both announced prices for their new range of mid-sized vans, the Vivaro and Trafic.
The timing is no surprise as the two are sister vehicles, though the Trafic will now be built in France rather than at Vauxhall’s Luton plant.
Vivaro prices start from £17,995 excluding VAT, which the brand points out is £450 less than the outgoing model.
It is now available in two trim levels: Vivaro and Vivaro Sportive, and four body styles – a panel van, double cab, nine-seater combi and platform cab.
Combi prices range from £25,699 to £27,749 on-the-road (including VAT) while the platform cab goes from £20,658.33 to £21,858.33 (list price excluding VAT).
Trafic panel van basic prices start from £18,245, the Crew Van at £20,395 and Platform Cab from £20,195. Low roofed versions in two body lengths are on offer at launch with high roof and platform cab variants to follow in 2015.
Renault is offering three trim levels, depending on model, dubbed Business, Business+ and Sport.
A choice of four diesel engines will be on offer in the new vans, including new twin-turbo 120 and 140hp variants (with Stop & Start), and a dCi 90 and dCi 115.
Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles Brand Manager Steve Bryant is delighted to bring the Vivaro to market at a lower starting price than its predecessor.
“Vivaro is the highlight of our van range and boasts a new design, class-leading build quality and practicality and all-new fuel-efficient powertrains,” he says.
Order books are now open for both vans with first vehicles expected to be on UK roads in September. The Van Expert will be testing the UK-built Vivaro next month.
