Ford has launched its Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM) programme, providing buyers and owners with a list of seven approved vehicle converters.

Ford becomes the latest LCV manufacturer to offer an official converter programme, and comes only days after Volkswagen launched a similar scheme last week.

Ford hopes that the programme will give customers looking to modify their vehicle “peace of mind”.

Converters wanting to achieve accreditation will see their methods of manufacture and standards of quality control regularly assessed by Ford. In addition, they must prove that vehicles have been converted in accordance with Ford’s Body and Equipment Mounting Manual.

Approved converters will also have to offer their customers a warranty for the work they do, which matches Ford’s own warranty in terms of mileage and duration.

The seven Ford-approved converters

  • Allied Vehicles
  • CoTrim Conversions
  • CPD Vodies
  • GM Coachworks
  • McElmeel Mobility Services
  • Paneltex
  • VFS
