KGM Motors has announced the launch of the Musso EV, its first all-electric pick-up model which will become available to test drive in May.

The Musso EV is powered by an 80kWh battery supplied by Chinese manufacturer BYD. It offers a claimed range of up to 240 miles and supports rapid charging at up to 300kW, allowing a 20% to 80% recharge in 31 minutes. The vehicle also includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, enabling it to supply power to external equipment such as tools or camping accessories.

Performance comes from dual electric motors producing a combined 207hp, delivered through a full-time all-wheel drive system. This setup is designed to automatically distribute power between the axles depending on traction conditions. The Musso EV has a towing capacity of 2.3 tonnes and a payload of up to 690kg, placing it broadly in line with many conventional pick-ups.

To support carrying and towing duties, the rear suspension features a self-levelling system that adjusts based on load. The load bed can be fitted with partitions to secure cargo, while the tailgate is reinforced to support up to 150kg.

The Musso EV also incorporates adjustable regenerative braking, controlled via steering wheel paddles. The system can adapt automatically to road gradients, traffic and other driving conditions to improve efficiency.

In terms of design and interior layout, the Musso EV follows a more SUV-like approach than some traditional pick-ups. The cabin includes a dual 12-inch digital display setup for instrumentation and infotainment. Heated and ventilated front seats, along with heated rear seats, are included, and rear passengers benefit from a relatively spacious second row with reclining seatbacks.

Safety features include eight airbags and a range of driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist and blind spot detection. A 3D around-view camera system is also fitted to aid manoeuvring.

The Musso EV will be available for customer test drives in the UK from May through selected dealers.

Pricing starts from over £42k – that price including the £2,500 Plug-in Van Grant. The model also qualifies for a 4% Benefit-in-Kind rate for the 2026/27 tax year, which KGM says results in relatively low monthly tax costs for company vehicle users.
