Chery Commercial Vehicle, a subsidiary of China’s giant Chery Group, is to make its European debut at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham next week, using the event to launch a new brand called Delivan that is specifically aimed at European operators.
The show, which takes place at the NEC from 21 to 23 April, will host the global launch of the Delivan brand alongside a series of concept vehicles previewing the company’s intended product range. Chery Commercial Vehicle says it is targeting a European product launch in 2027.
Delivan is being positioned as a dedicated commercial vehicle brand for Europe, separate from Chery’s existing passenger car and commercial vehicle operations. Chery Commercial Vehicle has established its European headquarters in Liverpool, and intends to establish a significant R&D operation to develop vehicles for local markets – although the vans will be built in China.
Chery intends to use the CV Show to inaugurate the new brand and outline its plans for both Delivan and its overall commercial vehicle plans, which is expected to include local conversion operations and eventually trucks under one of its other brand names.
Delivan is likely to follow the successful formula used to establish the Chery, Omoda and Jaecoo passenger car brands in the UK, so we can expect a significant number of dealerships and a strong emphasis on value for money. The focus will be on electric models, but we expect some hybrid offerings as well.
Details of the first Delivan models are likely to be announced towards the end of the year, ahead of a launch in early 2027.
