SsangYong has launched a limited edition version of its Korando Sports pick-up, dubbed the DMZ and boasting camouflage paintwork.

The DMZ specification also includes roof rails and 18-inch alloy wheels, and the model is priced at £19,195 plus VAT.

SsangYong offers the mainstream Korando Sports pick-up in three trim levels, S, SX and EX, at prices ranging from £14,495 to £18,195 – the S is claimed to be the lowest-priced double cab pick-up on the market.

SX models add the 18-inch alloy wheels, tinted glass, air conditioning, leather covered steering wheel, remote central locking, an MP3 CD and RDS radio with a USB and auxiliary port and Bluetooth connectivity, along with speed-sensitive power assisted steering.

Leather upholstery features on the EX with heated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, heated, electrically adjustable and power folding door mirrors and rear parking sensors.  A Mercedes-Benz sourced five-speed automatic transmission with cruise control is also available as an option.

All variants are powered by the e-XDi 2.0-litre diesel engine, with 152bhp and peak torque of 266lbft between 1,500rpm and 2,800rpm.

The specification also includes on-demand four-wheel drive, a one-tonne payload and a towing capability of up to 2.7 tonnes, the Korando having a rear load deck of 2.04 square metres, large enough to accommodate a Euro pallet.

According to SsangYong Motor UK CEO Paul Williams, customer demand has driven the availability of the special edition; “The DMZ is a bit of fun – we ordered a short run initially but they were instantly snapped up by our dealers, so we think it could prove particularly popular with owner drivers.”
