As Ford officially launches the all-new version of its dominant Transit van Vauxhall and Renault have released design impressions of their latest attempts to challenge the runaway class leader.
The Vauxhall Vivaro and Renault Trafic are built together at Vauxhall’s Luton plant in a joint programme, also encompassing Nissan’s Primastar.
In early summer all new versions of the vans will be unveiled, with both Renault and Vauxhall promising better performance, improved economy and car-like technology upgrades.
The major difference between the two, which both use Renault engines, will be in the styling, with the two brands giving their vans a bespoke exterior look that follows the latest design language already see on recent car releases.
The two brands will be hoping to close the sales gap, if not to Ford then to the blue oval’s closest challengers, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen.
