Mercedes-Benz has announced a new Vito ‘Sport-X‘, a UK-exclusive flagship version of its Crew van that combines additional equipment with motorsport-inspired styling.
Created to mark 130 years of transportation, the Sport-X is based on the existing Vito ‘Select’ trim grade and will sit at the top of the Crew van range when orders open in September.
Exterior changes include a redesigned front bumper and grille with an integrated splitter, side skirts, rear spoiler and 19-inch diamond-cut black alloy wheels. Gloss black detailing, roof rails, Sport-X badging and stripes across the bonnet and sides complete the list of exterior tweaks.
Inside, the regular three-seat front bench is replaced by two individual sports seats, reducing overall capacity to five. These feature black artificial leather and dark grey suede upholstery with orange contrast stitching.
Heated front seats and steering wheel, wireless phone charging and additional centre-console storage are standard, alongside the equipment carried over from ‘Select’.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 190hp, paired exclusively with Mercedes’ nine-speed automatic gearbox. Mercedes quotes a 0-62mph time of 10 seconds.
Despite its more lifestyle-oriented specification, the ‘Sport-X’ retains useful commercial credentials. It’s available in L2 and L3 body lengths, with up to 733kg of payload capacity, as much as 4.1m³ of load space and a maximum 2,500kg towing capacity.
The three-seat rear bench can also be removed when additional carrying space is required.
The Mercedes-Benz Vito ‘Sport-X’ will be available to order from September, priced from £57k excluding VAT.
