Ford is debuting a special Black Edition version of its Ranger pick-up model at the Frankfurt motor show next week.

The Ford Ranger Black Edition offers no mechanical upgrades over the regular Ranger models, but features a de-chromed exterior with black detailing and Absolute Black paint.

The Ranger Black Edition will be limited to the double-cab body style only, and production will be capped at 2,500 units per year.

Based on the high-level Limited specification, the Black Edition gets a range of goodies including satnav with eight-inch touchscreen, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, leather seats and automatically-folding door mirrors.

The special edition model celebrates a successful year-to-date for the Ford Ranger, which is currently the top-selling pick-up truck in Europe and enjoying sales running 12% ahead of last year.
