LEVC has announced that its electric TX taxis can now be fitted with a wheelchair ramp and restraint system which the manufacturer says is ideally suited to education and healthcare settings.
Called ‘TX Access’, this wheelchair restraint system includes a direct access ramp that folds away into the floorspace, a swivel seat that pivots outside the vehicle and high-vis grab handles (optional) and seat edges.
LEVC says that this modified version of its TX cab has enough interior space to “effortlessly” rotate a wheelchair into a forward-facing position, while the restraint system allows wheelchair users to remain securely seated throughout the journey.
The cabin floor is trimmed in a slip-resistant material, and the cab also comes with additional communication features, including a hearing aid induction loop and braille embossed controls.
TX Access cabs will be built alongside the standard TX range at LEVC’s factory in Coventry.
