Renault has added a few additional safety features to its Trafic panel van options list, including an upgraded alarm system, a sealed steel mesh internal door and five-point locking mechanisms on the side and rear.

Designed to deter thieves in the first instance, Renault says that these optional features will be available to spec on all new low roof panel van models, as well as the top-spec high roof ‘Red Edition’ and ‘Exclusive’ variants.

Manufactured and supplied by third party PD Stevens & Sons, these safety add-ons are not yet available on Renault’s online configurator. They are likely to be available as a bundle package, the price of which is yet to be confirmed.

This safety package includes a Category 1 alarm system, which has perimeter and ignition detection, as well as the electronic immobiliser of lesser Category 2 systems. Opening the sliding side door reveals a fully sealed steel mesh internal door which has a five-point locking mechanism.

In the loading bay, Renault has lined the interior to match the interior door fixture, and the tool box has been flush-mounted into the cabin wall to slightly increase the load space available.
