Renault Trucks has announced that three new van specifications will join the mid-sized Trafic LCV range, which will sit alongside the panel van and crew van model lines already on sale.
Modified by Renault’s approved third party conversion companies, the new additions to the Trafic range include a caged dropside van, a refrigerated LCV, and a camper van. All of these variants are based on the shorter ‘H1’ cab height and longer ‘L2’ wheelbase Trafic configuration, and are powered by a 150hp engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox.
Converted in collaboration with LCV bodybuilders P.D Stevens & Sons Limited of Shropshire, the Trafic ‘Red Edition Caged Dropside’ is designed for the construction industry and council-related tasks like park maintenance and rubbish collection. Available with or without the rear cage, the specification features a sloping alloy plank floor to aid unloading and an underfloor tool storage box.

Designed for the transport of food or pharmaceutical goods, the Trafic ‘Red Edition Chiller’ has instead been fitted with a refrigerated box body by Gray and Adams Limited of Aberdeenshire. The model is also offered with a freezer unit instead, or a combination of both.
The LCV’s rear can be accessed either by a single nearside door or two rear doors, and Renault Trucks asserts that it offers more loading space than typical refrigerated vans of this size, being able to carry a payload of up to 1000kg.
Finally, the Trafic ‘Red Exclusive Roadtrip’ is a camper van modified by Sussex Campervans Limited which is available in multiple exterior colours. Alterations include an electronically-controlled roof with solar panels, a toilet and four-berth sleeping facility. The van also comes with a two-tone leather interior with swivelling front seats, as well as an on-board electric system that powers a cooker and a 50-litre fridge freezer.
A bike carrier is mounted on the van’s rear, and the Red Exclusive Roadtrip also comes with a side awning for when you have set up camp. The vehicle can also be specced with rear tailgate doors, and in the shorter ‘L1’ wheelbase on request.
The vans are not yet on sale, so we don’t have UK pricing for these variants as of yet. They will soon be available from the Renault Trucks website, like the rest of the Trafic Red Edition range. More details will follow in the coming months.
